Islamabad: The security of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail in Pakistan, is costing Rs 12 lakh every month. According to the report submitted by the jail authorities in the Lahore High Court, 71-year-old Khan has been provided special facilities inside the jail premises. This includes a separate CCTV system at a cost of Rs five lakh. This system is different from the system that monitors seven thousand prisoners.
Imran is getting special facilities
According to the news of ‘The Express Tribune’, Imran Khan’s food is cooked in a separate kitchen under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent. Before the food is served, the medical officer or deputy superintendent checks the food. A team of more than six doctors from ‘Holy Family Hospital’ is present there to examine and treat the health of the former Prime Minister. Apart from this, an expert team examines them regularly.

Imran Khan has two of the seven special cells in the jail while five other cells have been kept closed due to security reasons. About 35 prisoners are kept in these cells. Access to the mine chambers is limited; permission is required to enter. Professionally trained personnel have been deployed to ensure the security of Imran Khan and his wards.
There is also provision for exercise
There are 15 personnel involved in the security of Imran Khan, including two security officers and three for his personal security. Apart from this, a special area in the jail premises has been earmarked for Imran Khan’s walks, where there are exercise machines and other facilities. The report details the collaborative efforts of the jail police, Rangers and district police in ensuring the security of Adiala Jail. (Language)
