Giving information about this, Karachi’s Additional Inspector General Imram Yaqoob Minhas said that the situation is worrying. More than four lakh professional beggars have gathered in Karachi. According to AIG Minhas, Karachi has become a prime spot for professional beggars and criminals. He said that a large number of people from interior parts of Sindh, Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan have come to Karachi to beg. Yakub Minhas said that crime in Karachi is becoming a matter of concern. To control these, efforts are being made to install additional cameras so that the real criminals can be reached.

Official figures from Karachi Police show that more than 16,000 crimes have been committed on the streets of the city so far this year. When people protest against robbery, criminals kill. In March, such criminals had murdered 16 people, while this year more than 50 people have been murdered. During Ramadan alone, 19 civilians were targeted in street crimes. Sindh High Court Chief Justice Akil Ahmed Abbasi recently directed law enforcement agencies to initiate action against criminals, their masters and facilitators to curb street crime in Karachi and improve security in other parts of the province.
