Assam Municipal Election 2022: The counting of votes for the assembly elections in five states will be held on March 10. Before this, the results of the municipal elections in Assam are to be released on Wednesday, March 9. A total of 80 municipal boards are to be decided here. According to the information till now, BJP is leading on 44 boards. At the same time, only one board seems to be going in the account of Congress. BJP candidates are leading on 296 wards of these 80 municipal boards. On the other hand, only 33 councilor candidates of Congress seem to be winning. Let us tell you, EVM has been used for the first time in Assam Municipal Election 2022. That’s why the results are being declared very soon.

According to the data released by the State Election Commission, 2,500 candidates had contested, whose fate is being decided. Candidates from 57 wards have already been declared winners.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were used for the first time in the history of civic polls in the state in the municipal elections held on Sunday. The turnout was over 70 percent. Over 16 lakh voters, including 8,41,534 women and 17 transgenders, were eligible to vote in the civic body elections.
Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state cabinet ministers Atul Bora and Jogen Mohan were among some of the popular names who cast their votes during the polling. According to a PTI report, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had fielded the highest number of candidates (825) followed by the Congress with 706 candidates.
No untoward incident was reported during the polling and no party in the state has requested for re-polling. In a tweet, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had urged people to come out in full force and participate in the voting process.
