A total of Rs 1,061.87 crore was seized during elections in five states, which is three and a half times more than Rs 299.84 crore seized by the Election Commission in five states when elections were held in 2017. A total of 85,27,227 liters of liquor have been seized from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur since the elections were announced on January 8.
Punjab tops the list with 59,65,496 liquor liters worth Rs 36.79 crore, followed by Uttar Pradesh (22,94,614 litres, worth Rs 62.13 crore), Uttarakhand (97,176 liters of liquor worth Rs 4.79 crore), Goa (3.57 crore). 95,446 liters of liquor worth Rs.) and Manipur (74,495 liters of liquor worth Rs.73 lakhs).
