Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik was arrested on Wednesday. The action was taken after being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case. Apart from money laundering, Malik has also been arrested for his involvement in the activities of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his associates of Mumbai underworld. Recently, the ED had conducted several raids and also detained Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar. Was. According to sources, during the ongoing investigation, some evidence related to the property purchased by Nawab Malik has come to the fore. Malik was taken to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office this morning for questioning amid escalating tension between the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Maharashtra and the Centre. Officials of the central probe agency reached the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader’s house at 6 am where he was questioned for an hour. He was then brought to the ED office and questioned again for several hours.
While Malik was being questioned, NCP workers protested near the party headquarters located near the ED office in south Mumbai and raised slogans criticizing the BJP-led central government and the probe agency. The workers were seen walking towards the ED’s office but were stopped by the police personnel near the party office. After that he staged a protest. Malik’s son-in-law Sameer Khan was also arrested last year by the Mumbai unit of the NCB in a drug case.
Rhetoric started after Malik’s arrest
Party spokesperson Sanjay said this protest is against the unjust interrogation of Nawab Malik. We will not bow down. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and NCP chief Sharad Pawar have accused central agencies of being politically motivated and claimed that anyone who speaks against the Center and its investigating agencies is targeted. The BJP has denied allegations of political vendetta and accused Malik of buying land from an aide of gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Ram Kadam, BJP MLA from Mumbai’s Ghatkopar West, said in a video statement that it is not about any party or individual.
