According to the data of Voter Turnout App, election officials said that till 5 pm, 77.57 percent voting took place in West Bengal. Voting was 70.77 percent in Assam and 69.91 percent in Meghalaya. Around 67.46 percent voting was recorded till 5 pm in violence-hit Manipur. More than 63.20 percent voting has been recorded till 5 pm in all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.
Despite torrential rains in Udhampur parliamentary constituency of Jammu and Kashmir, more than 65.08 percent voters exercised their franchise. Voting was held on 12 Lok Sabha seats of Rajasthan and till 5 pm, more than 50.27 percent voters had cast their votes. Till 5 pm, more than 53.56 percent voters exercised their franchise in all five Lok Sabha seats of Uttarakhand. Till 5 pm, 54.85 percent voting was recorded in five Lok Sabha seats of Maharashtra, while 63.50 percent voting was recorded in six Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh.
In the first phase, the fate of nine Union Ministers, two former Chief Ministers and one former Governor of the country has been sealed in EVMs. Along with the first phase of voting, voting is also being held on 92 assembly seats of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Of the more than 16 crore voters who voted in this phase, 8.4 crore are male and 8.23 crore are female voters. At the same time, the number of voters voting for the first time in this phase is around 35.67 lakh.
If we look at the number of voters aged between 20 to 29 years in this phase, this figure is 3.51 crore. In this phase, 1.87 lakh polling booths have been made for voting on 102 seats. After this phase of voting, there will be 10 states and union territories, voting for all whose seats will end today. Now once we look at the results of the Lok Sabha elections held in 2019 on these seats, we will know that out of these, BJP had won 40 seats, Congress 15 and DMK 24 seats.
Out of the seats where voting is taking place in the first phase, there are 9 such seats which are considered to be the forts of Congress and BJP. Congress or BJP has won these seats in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections. Voting is taking place today on all 39 seats of Tamil Nadu. BJP could not win even one of these seats in 2019. In such a situation, it is a big challenge for him to win the seats here.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, out of these 102 seats, around 40 percent seats were won by BJP while around 15 percent seats were won by Congress. However, if we look at the results of these Lok Sabha elections in terms of alliance, then NDA and India The share of the alliance was more or less equal in that election. In such a situation, both the alliances face the challenge of not only maintaining their 2019 performance but also increasing the number of seats on these seats.
In the voting taking place on these 102 seats, this time BJP is contesting on more seats as compared to 2019. BJP has fielded its candidates on 77 out of these 102 seats, whereas, out of 102, BSP is contesting on the maximum number of seats. It has fielded its candidates on 86 seats. Congress has fielded its candidates on 56 seats, DMK on 22, AIADMK on 36, RJD on 4, SP on 7 and TMC on 5 seats.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, out of these 102 seats, BJP had fielded its candidates on 60 seats and Congress had fielded its candidates on 65 seats. In such a situation, this time in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while BJP has fielded candidates on more seats out of 102 as compared to 2019, Congress has fielded its candidates on fewer seats than in the previous elections.
Out of these 102 seats, there are 53 such seats on which the difference of victory and defeat in 2019 was less than 20 percent of the votes. Whereas, there were 8 such seats, including Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur seats of Uttar Pradesh, Andaman-Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tamil Nadu, where the margin of victory and defeat was less than 2 percent.
