Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 will take place on April 19. Let us tell you that the voting process to be held in seven phases will start from April 19 and will continue till June 1 and the results of the elections can be declared on April 4. In the first phase, voting will be held for a total of 102 seats in 21 states. Meanwhile, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has given complete details of the candidates contesting in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024.
According to the ADR report, a total of 1625 candidates are in the fray in the first phase. When the affidavits of 1618 candidates were analyzed, it was found that the affidavits of seven candidates could not be analyzed because their affidavits were not clear. ADR, in an analysis released on Monday, said that out of 1618 candidates in the first phase, 252 (16%) have criminal cases registered against them. While 450 (28%) candidates are crorepatis while the average wealth of the candidates is ₹4.51 crore.
Know what is there in the ADR report?
Out of 1618 candidates, 252 (16 per cent) have criminal cases against them, out of which 161 candidates have serious criminal cases against them. While 15 candidates have conviction cases, seven candidates have cases registered against them related to murder (IPC-302). 18 candidates have cases related to atrocities against women. Out of these 18, a case related to rape (IPC-376) is registered against one candidate. Apart from this, a total of 35 candidates linked to inflammatory speeches are in the fray.
How many tainted candidates are there in which party?
In the first phase, criminal cases are registered against all four RJD candidates from Bihar, while 13 out of 22 from DMK, three out of seven from SP, two out of five from TMC, 28 out of 77 from BJP, 28 out of 77 from AIADMK, Criminal cases are registered against 13 out of 36, 19 out of 56 Congress and 11 out of 86 BSP candidates.
Two out of four RJD candidates, six out of 22 DMK candidates, two out of seven SP candidates, one out of five Trinamool Congress candidates have serious criminal cases registered against them, while BJP has 14, AIADMK six, Congress eight. And serious criminal cases are registered against eight BSP candidates.
Who has how much property?
Out of 1618 candidates who contested in the first phase, 28 percent i.e. 450 candidates are crorepatis. 69 out of 77 BJP candidates, 49 out of 56 Congress candidates, four RJD candidates, 35 out of 36 AIADMK candidates, 21 out of 22 DMK candidates, four out of five Trinamool Congress candidates and 18 out of 86 BSP candidates are crorepatis. In the election affidavits, these candidates have declared their assets worth more than one crore. In the first phase, each candidate has assets worth an average of Rs 4.51 crore.
Nakul Nath is the richest
The candidate who declared the highest assets in the first phase is Nakul Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath. The Congress candidate from Chhindwara has declared total assets worth Rs 716 crore. In this matter, AIADMK’s Ashok Kumar is in second place. Kumar, who is contesting from Erode seat of Tamil Nadu, has declared wealth of Rs 662 crore in his affidavit. The third richest candidate is BJP’s Devanathan Yadav. Devanathan, who is contesting from Sivagangai seat of Tamil Nadu, has assets worth Rs 304 crore.
Candidates having assets worth Rs 300 to 500
On one hand, 10 candidates have declared their assets as zero, while on the other hand, three candidates have declared their assets between Rs 300 to Rs 500. With Rs 320. Ponraj is the candidate who has declared the least assets. He is contesting as an independent candidate from Thoothukudi seat of Tamil Nadu. At the same time, two independent candidates – Karthik Gendlalji Doke and Suriyamuthu have declared their assets worth only Rs 500. Karthik is contesting from Ramtek (SC) in Maharashtra while Suriyamuthu is contesting from Chennai North seat in Tamil Nadu.
