It is clearly written on it that the idols kept in the temple are from the post-Gupta period and it is an octagonal temple made of stone. The temple is very ancient and also very religious. It is said that the story of the establishment of Mata in this temple is also very interesting. According to belief, demons named Chand and Mund lived in this area, who used to torture people. Hearing whose call, Mata Bhavani had come to earth and when she reached here to kill them, she first killed Chand. After his death, Mund hid on this hill while fighting. But mother reached this hill and killed Mund also. After this this place became famous by the name of Mata Mundeshwari Devi.
Virajman Bhavani as Maa Varahi
After entering inside the temple, the main attraction is the grand and ancient stone statue of Goddess Mundeshwari in the eastern wing of the temple, where Mother Goddess is present in the form of Varahi. Whose vehicle is Mahish. The idol of Mother Goddess is so grand that the eyes cannot rest on it for long. There is such grandeur and structure inside the temple which makes the temple even more attractive. The temple inside rests on four legs. There are two such secrets inside the temple, the truth of which no one has been able to know till date, and people come from far and wide to see them. We see with our own eyes, but are not able to understand how this happens?
Unique tradition of bloodless sacrifice
The priest of the temple told us that there is a tradition of sacrifice in this temple since ancient times. The wish made by the mother gets fulfilled and they come to this temple and sacrifice a goat. But, the sacrifice here is different from the sacrifice practice anywhere else. Here the sacrifice is also offered at the feet of the Mother Goddess, but not a drop of blood comes out. After the puja, the goat is brought before the goddess inside the temple for sacrifice. After bringing the goat in front of the Mata, the priest of the temple holds the four legs of the goat firmly and after touching the feet of the Mata, chants the mantra. The goat is placed in front of the mother’s feet and then the worshiped rice is sprinkled on the goat. As soon as that rice falls on the goat, the goat becomes unconscious.
Goat wakes up as soon as priest recites mantras
The goat remains unconscious for some time. When the priest recites some mantras and throws the flower lying at the feet of the mother again on the goat, the goat wakes up as if it has woken up from sleep. In this way the process of goat sacrifice is completed. This is the unique tradition of this sacrifice which has been going on for centuries. In this sacrifice a goat is offered, but its life is not taken. The biggest feature of this temple is the Satvik tradition of animal sacrifice, seeing which the devotees start chanting loudly for the Mother Goddess. Devotees consider it a miracle of Mother.
The color of Shivling changes in every hour.
Miracles do not end here. There is another miracle inside the temple which you will be surprised to see. In the temple of Maa Mundeshwari, inside the sanctum sanctorum, there is a Shivalinga of Panchmukhi Lord Shiva, whose grandeur is unique in itself. Such idol of Bholenath is rarely found in India, there is a secret hidden in this idol which no one knows or understands, if the priest of the temple is to be believed then there is a belief that the color of this idol changes in the morning, afternoon and evening. Looks different. We don’t even know when the color of Shivalinga changes.
Devotees flocked to see Shivalinga on Monday
This Shivalinga is installed in the sanctum sanctorum in the middle of Maa Mundeshwari temple and is very ancient. When people see it in the morning, its color remains different, in the afternoon the color is different and in the evening the color changes again. The temple is famous in the country and the world not only from religious point of view but also for its mystery, which attracts people after hearing about it. On Monday, a large number of devotees perform Jalabhishek on Shivling. Here the priest of the temple decorates the Panchmukhi Shivling of Lord Bholenath in the morning and performs Rudrabhishek.
