The Election Commission of India issued the notification today i.e. on Wednesday for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 19. In the first phase, elections are to be held on 102 Lok Sabha seats in 21 states, for which the nomination process has started from today i.e. March 20. The last date for filing nomination in the first phase is March 27. However, for the Lok Sabha seats for which voting is to be held in the first phase in Bihar, the last date for filing nominations has been extended to March 28 due to the festival. Voting for four out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar will be held in the first phase.
When will the nomination papers be scrutinized?
The nomination papers for the first phase of elections will be scrutinized on March 28. For Bihar this date is 30 March. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is March 30. At the same time, the process of withdrawal of nominations for four seats of the first phase in Bihar will continue till April 2. In the first phase, along with 102 Lok Sabha seats, there are also elections for Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim Assembly. Voting is to be held on April 19 in the first phase for all 60 seats of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly and all 32 seats of the Sikkim Assembly.

In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, 2 in Arunachal Pradesh, 4 in Assam, 2 in Manipur, 2 in Meghalaya, 1 in Mizoram, 1 in Nagaland, 1 in Sikkim, 1 in Tripura, 1 in Andaman Nicobar, 1 in Lakshadweep, 1 in Puducherry. 1, 39 in Tamil Nadu, 12 in Rajasthan, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, 6 in Madhya Pradesh, 5 in Maharashtra, 5 in Uttarakhand, 4 in Bihar and 3 in West Bengal. Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha in the country will begin on April 19 and voting will be held in 7 phases till June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
