Chhindwara (Navdunia Representative). How corruption is flourishing in the government offices of the district, it has once again become clear from the action of Lokayukta. There was a stir in the office of MP Housing Board located opposite Chakkar Road SAF Battalion when the executive engineer of the office, Rahul Meshram, was caught red handed by the team of Lokayukta Jabalpur while accepting a bribe of Rs 11,000. The accused executive engineer was taking this amount in lieu of passing the bill from the contractor of the department. Lokayukta DSP Dilip Jharbde said that Laxminarayan’s father Gangaram Vishwakarma (46), a resident of Amaral City, Bhopal, had done many works in the department, the bills of which he had put in the office. But the bills were not being passed for a long time, when he met the executive engineer of the department, Rahul Meshram, he demanded a bribe. After extracting the running bill of two lakh rupees, a demand of 11 thousand rupees was made from the contractor as a reward of two percent. The troubled contractor Laxminarayan Vishwakarma had complained about this to Lokayukta SP Jabalpur on February 28. After which the Lokayukta team swung into action and a plan was made to trace the executive engineer. When the contractor reached to pay the executive engineer on Friday evening, the Lokayukta team stationed outside the office in an ambush caught the executive engineer red-handed taking a bribe of Rs.11 thousand. As soon as the executive engineer put the bribe amount in the shirt pocket, the team entered the office. Along with confiscating the amount kept in the pocket, the hands of the executive engineer got painted and the shirt was confiscated by the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta team included DSP Dilip Jharbde, Inspector Kamal Singh Uike, Bhupendra Dewan, constable Atul Srivastava, Zubed Khan, Vijay Visht, Rakesh Vishwakarma.
The accountant was caught 10 days ago
Talking about the last 10 days, on February 22, Lokayukta had caught woman accountant of Tribal Welfare Department, Sangeeta Jhade red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 in the Collectorate premises. This bribe amount was demanded by the accountant in lieu of making some changes in the documents of the department’s peon Gangaram Suryavanshi. The action was taken after the peon’s son Nilesh Suryavanshi had complained to Lokayukta SP Jabalpur.
