Madhya Pradesh Cheetah Project: Bhopal (State Bureau). African country Namibia has agreed to give cheetah to India, but with one condition. Namibia has been isolated when it comes to allowing cheetah hunting and the sale of its parts. The international organization working for the conservation of wildlife, Cytis (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species) is under increasing pressure on Namibia and no other country is supporting Namibia in this. That’s why he wants India to support him. Namibia has put this condition in the agreement to be signed with India under the Cheetah project. It was only after this fact came to the notice of the Namibian and Indian officials that the team members went to another country South Africa to explore the possibility of bringing cheetahs.
Actually, the way to bring cheetah from Namibia is not completely clear yet. Therefore it cannot be said when the cheetah will come to Madhya Pradesh. This became clear in the meeting of the Namibian officials with the five-member team sent to Namibia (February 18 to 22). The Namibian government has asked India to agree on a condition before entering into a contract to supply cheetahs.
When the Government of India gives written consent, then the process of contracting to bring the cheetah will proceed. Obviously the Indian government will not be ready for this. In this case, the second option will have to be searched. It is noteworthy that the Namibian government allows the hunting of cheetahs and the sale of its parts. Cytis constantly takes action against Namibia regarding this.

Seeing Namibia’s stand, the team members immediately started working on the alternative. Two members of the team had gone to South Africa. There they have come to meet the members of the Endangered Wildlife Association. This organization maintains cheetah and is ready to give it too, but its permission will have to be taken from the government there. it will take time. Then there will be a proposal from the Government of India for permission to export Cheetah.
