Brajesh Shukla, Jabalpur, NewDuniya. The city and its surrounding districts are not only known for the Narmada stream but also for the tapasthali of Lord Shankar. This is the reason that there are such ancient pagodas here, which are mentioned in the Puranas. Bholenath enshrined in these pagodas is blessing the devotees. The origin of Narmada is mentioned in the Narmada Purana and Shiva Purana about the penance of Lord Shiva at Amarkantak. The origin of Narmada from the Shveda of Lord Shankar at the time of penance and the mention of the ancient temples of Shiva on the banks of Narmada still exists from a historical and religious point of view.
There is a gathering of devotees on Mahashivratri at Tripureshwar, Til Bhandeshwar, Lamheti temple as well as in Gopalpur’s Pashupatinath temple on the Narmada bank of Jabalpur. Brahmachari Chaitanyanand Maharaj of Shankaracharya Math says that the mention of these temples is also found in Shiva Purana.
Lord Rama had made upalinga of Rameshwaram: Gupteshwar of Jabalpur is an Upalinga of Mahadev Rameshwaram. Dr. Mukunddas Maharaj tells that it was established by Lord Rama, Mata Sita and Lakshmana during the exile. There is evidence in the Koti Rudra Samhita that Gupteshwar Mahadev is the Upalinga form of Rameshwaram. Evidence of Gupteshwar Mahadev is found in Matsya Purana, Narmada Purana, Shiv Purana, Valmiki Ramayana, Ramcharit Manas and Skanda Purana.
Wedding scene in the statue: How the scene of the marriage of Lord Shankar-Parvati on Mahashivratri would have been seen in the idols of the Kalchuri period even today. The world famous Bhedaghat’s Chausath Yogini has a statue of Vareshwara. Who is known as Gaurishankar. The construction of this statue and temple is believed to be in the twelfth century. Vareshvara is inscribed in the Kalachuri language on the pedestal of the statue. Lord Shankar is seated on Nandi along with Parvati ji in the form of a groom. Below the statue are small idols carrying musical instruments. Those who are related to the marriage of God.
Establishment of Tripureshwar: After the killing of Tarakasura, his sons Tarakaksha, Kamalaksha and Vidyunmali established the cities of Swarnapuri, Rajatpuri and Lohapuri. that used to fly in the sky. The three brothers had created a ruckus from this city. Which was destroyed by Lord Mahadev in Tripuri. Which is called the current trend zone. Then the deities established the Tripureshwar Shivling on the banks of Narmada. Historian Dr. Anand Singh Rana states that the boundaries of Tripuri state extended to various areas of present-day Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The mention of Tripuri is found in Padma Purana, Matsya Purana, Linga Purana.
