Mumbai Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has now given an ultimatum to the Uddhav Thackeray government of Maharashtra to get the loudspeakers removed from mosques by May 3. Raj has said that if this is not done, then his party workers will get Hanuman Chalisa recited by putting loudspeakers in front of the mosques. At a rally in Thane last evening, Raj Thackeray said that right now he is only talking about the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa. If need be, he will drag and release his arrow further. Raj said to do your prayer at home. Don’t bother anyone. He said that the matter of 10-15 days is understandable, but it cannot go on like this for the whole year also.
Raj Thackeray had earlier said in a rally in Mumbai on the occasion of Gudi Padwa on April 2 that if loudspeakers were not removed from mosques, then MNS workers would play Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers in front of them. After this, Hanuman Chalisa was played on loudspeakers at many places and the police also took action against MNS workers who did so. Raj further said that in 2005, the Supreme Court had said that such religious works should not be allowed, which causes trouble to others. The MNS chief raised the question that if the Supreme Court has said, then what is the problem in removing loudspeakers from mosques.
