Mahashivratri Abhishek Vidhi: The preparations for Mahashivratri have been completed. This biggest festival of the devotees of Lord Shiva is falling on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. After reducing the restrictions of Corona, this is the first time in two years that devotees will be able to visit pagodas and offer prayers with full devotion. Abhishek is very dear to Bholenath. It is written in Shiva Purana that the devotee who performs the Abhishek of Shiva with the right method, his wish is definitely fulfilled. The question is, which is the right way to perform Abhishek of Shiva (Mahashivratri Abhishek Vidhi)? Actually, devotees unknowingly make many mistakes during the consecration due to the changed customs over time. They think that this is right, but due to lack of scripture, they do not get the right results. Know here the correct method of doing Abhishek of Shiva
Mahashivratri Abhishek Vidhi: Pujan Samgri, Vidhi, All you need to know
First of all meditate on Lord Shiva. Take milk in a copper vessel and do tilak around it with kumkum. While chanting the mantra ‘Om Shree Kamdhenve Namah’, tie ‘Moli’ in the pot. Offer flowers to the ‘Shivling’ while chanting ‘Om Namah Shivaya’, the favorite mantra of Lord Shiva. After this wash the ‘Shivling’ with clean water and wipe it with a clean cloth. After this, do Abhishek with cow’s milk. Then offer honey. Make a paste of ghee, sandalwood, saffron made from cow’s milk. Clean the Shivling once again with the Ganges water. Apply sugar. Offer pure water and in the last offer Bilva leaves and Datura by applying sandalwood paste. During this whole process keep chanting Om Namah Shivay. Light the incense stick. Give incense and do aarti.
Mahashivratri Abhishek Vidhi: Never forget to use these things
The use of certain things is prohibited in the worship and consecration of Lord Shiva. These include- Tulsi, conch shell, coconut water, ketaki flower and turmeric. Turmeric is never applied to Shivling as turmeric is used for the beauty of women, and Shivalinga is believed to be a form of Shiva. According to religious beliefs, the flower of Ketki had supported Brahma ji in a lie. For this reason Shiva cursed the Ketaki flower that it would never be offered to the Shivling.
Coconut is offered to the Shivling, but not coconut water, as coconut water is considered to be a form of Lakshmi. Lord Shiva killed a demon named Jalandhar. After the death of her husband, Jalandhar’s wife Vrinda became a Tulsi plant. This is the reason why Tulsi is not included in the worship of Shiva.
