New Delhi: Trinamool Congress leader and former Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra’s troubles are not ending. According to reports, ED has also registered a case of money laundering under PMLA against Mahua Moitra for asking questions after taking money. Let us tell you that ED is already investigating against Mahua under FEMA. Earlier, ED had called her for questioning in the FEMA case last Thursday, but she ignored the agency’s summons and remained busy campaigning in Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Mahua Moitra did not appear before ED
ED had issued fresh summons to Mahua Moitra and Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani for questioning at its office in Delhi in the FEMA violation case. After the election campaign in Nadia’s Kaliaganj, Moitra said, ‘ED will do its work and I will do my work, which means I have to continue my election campaign.’ 49-year-old TMC leader Mahua Moitra had been called for questioning twice by the central agency, but she did not appear citing official work and demanded postponement of the notice.

Was expelled from Lok Sabha in December 2023
Let us tell you that Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December for ‘immoral conduct’. His party has again nominated him as its candidate from Krishnanagar seat of West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The CBI had raided his premises a few days ago in connection with his alleged taking of money and asking questions. A few days before this, the Lokpal had directed the CBI to investigate the allegations made against Moitra by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Moitra says she has not done anything wrong.
