Approval given on the request of Maldives government
India on Friday lifted the ban on export of specified quantities of certain commodities like eggs, potatoes, onions, rice, wheat flour, sugar and pulses to Maldives during the current financial year. The Indian High Commissioner said here on Friday that on the request of the Maldives government, India has allowed export of specified quantities of essential commodities for 2024-25. The Indian Embassy said in a notification that the quantity approved for export is the highest since the implementation of this system in 1981. Jamir thanked India for this step on social media platform ‘X’.
Foreign Minister wrote, thank you wholeheartedly
“I wholeheartedly thank External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the Government of India for the renewal of the quota to enable Maldives to import essential commodities from India during the years 2024 and 2025,” the Maldivian Foreign Minister wrote. “This is truly a gesture that symbolizes the long-standing friendship between our two countries and a strong commitment to further expand bilateral trade and commerce,” he wrote. Responding to Zameer’s post, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India is committed to giving utmost importance to its neighbours.
