In Manipur, polling will be held in 38 seats in five districts for the first phase on Monday. These include Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishanpur, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts. 173 candidates, including 15 women, are trying their luck in these seats.
State Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Aggarwal said that 39 of these candidates are of criminal background. More than 12 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in this phase. Of these, 5.80 lakh are male voters and 6.28 lakh are female voters. 1721 polling stations have been set up for them. Aggarwal said that the voting will start at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm. The time of 3 to 4 pm has been set for the voting of corona infected and people living in quarantine.
