New Delhi. The court on Saturday again extended the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. The ED court at Rouse Avenue ordered Manish Sisodia to be kept in Tihar jail till April 18. Manish Sisodia has been lodged in Tihar jail for more than a year. ED has accused Manish Sisodia of money laundering in the Delhi liquor scam. Manish Sisodia has applied for bail several times in Rouse Avenue Court, Delhi High Court and Supreme Court, but he has not got relief from anywhere.
Recently there was news that Manish Sisodia’s lawyer told the ED court that whatever conditions will be imposed for bail, his client will follow them, but he has not been able to get bail yet. In such a situation, the troubles for Manish Sisodia are not over yet. Manish Sisodia has been accused of changing the liquor policy. Liquor traders benefited from this and Delhi government lost several hundred crores of revenue. CBI had started investigation into Delhi’s liquor scam case. After which ED filed a complaint stating it was a case of money laundering and then arrests were made. Now the eye is on whether Manish Sisodia once again approaches Delhi High Court and Supreme Court for bail or not.
Recently, the Supreme Court has granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, another accused in the liquor scam case. It was believed that maybe Manish Sisodia would also get bail, but it did not happen. ED had also arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam case. After ED remand, Kejriwal has been sent to judicial custody till April 15 by Rouse Avenue Court.
