The BJP leadership has started making strategy for the assembly elections to be held in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. Himachal Pradesh will go to polls at the end of the year, while Karnataka will go to polls in the first half of next year.
Senior party leader and Home Minister Amit Shah has reviewed the situation by meeting with the core committee of Karnataka in Bengaluru a day ago. At the same time, party president JP Nadda has held a meeting with the leaders of Himachal in Delhi.
There are BJP governments in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. Strategic problem is also emerging in front of him in both these states. In Himachal Pradesh, the party was defeated in the last one Lok Sabha and three assembly by-elections, while in Karnataka, even after the change of leadership, there is no better coordination between power and organization. This is the reason why Home Minister Amit Shah himself went to Karnataka and reviewed various aspects by meeting the core committee.
According to sources, the central leadership has rejected the suggestion of holding early elections along with Himachal and Gujarat assemblies. Instead, the party will conduct elections on time by making necessary changes in the power and organization there.
Cabinet expansion will happen soon in Karnataka
Sources say that first the cabinet will be expanded in Karnataka, in which social distancing will be kept in mind. After this, changes will be made in the state organization. The current state president Nalin Kateel took over as the state president in 2019 after Yeddyurappa became the chief minister. But, there has been a lack of coordination between power and organization after Yeddyurappa stepped down as chief minister and Basavaraj Bommai became the chief minister. In view of this, there is a possibility of change in the post of President.
Emphasis on effective strategy in Himachal
The BJP’s problem in Himachal Pradesh is more from the opposition Congress than within itself. Since this is the home state of party president JP Nadda, many decisions will be taken by Nadda himself. Nadda has also held a meeting with the state president and organization minister on Friday. In this, a comprehensive review of the situation since the party’s defeat in the by-elections has been done. Since the elections are due at the end of the year, there is hardly any change of leadership, but there may be some changes at the level of the organisation. At present, the party is emphasizing more on streamlining and effective implementation of electoral strategy than change in leadership.
BJP will not give chance to Congress
In Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has almost a direct contest with the Congress. Though the Janata Dal(S) has influence in Karnataka as well, but the BJP is looking at the Congress and the Janata Dal(S) together. In such a situation, BJP is also taking vigil in these two states. Because she does not want that even her slightest shortcoming should give any chance to the Congress, which will adversely affect her plan to hold elections in a Congress-free India in 2024.
