Chennai. Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani criticized her old rival Rahul Gandhi in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, saying that people like him have come and gone, but ‘Hindustan is, was and will be.’ Smriti Irani had defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from her family stronghold Amethi in the last Lok Sabha. He stressed the importance of completion of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and referred to incidents in states like West Bengal and Kerala, where protests against ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans allegedly led to violence.
