Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) launched its new Celerio in the domestic market last year. The small car made a splash as soon as it hit the market and registered bookings of over 25,000 units in just two months. The company launched this car between Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 6.94 lakh and till now this car was available for sale only with petrol engine. But today the company has announced the launch of Maruti Celerio CNG variant. The company has fixed the starting price of this car at Rs 6.58 lakh.
The Celerio has always been one of the best selling models in the company’s vehicle portfolio. So far, 5.9 lakh units of this car have been sold and its next generation model is also better in many ways than other cars in its segment. The company has not only changed its design, but due to advanced features and better technology, this car has become even better than before.
Great Mileage Claims:
Maruti Suzuki introduced this car as the best mileage car in the country. The company claims that its petrol version gives a mileage of up to 26.88 kmpl. Similar to the petrol version, the new CNG variant also comes with some design updates and as per the information shared by the company, the Maruti Celerio CNG variant is capable of delivering a mileage of up to 35.6 kmpl.
The new 2022 Maruti Celerio gets a 3D sculpted exterior body profile. It is offered in 6 color options – Arctic White, Silky Silver, Glistening Gray and Caffeine Brown along with Solid Fire Red and Speedy Blue. In terms of size, it measures 3,695 mm in length, 1,555 mm in width and 1,655 mm in height, while it also gets a wheelbase of 2,435 mm.
It sports a new radiator grille, distinctive headlamps and new fog lamp casing. The front bumper gets black accents, while the hatchback comes with a body-coloured rear bumper and includes a curved tailgate. In the Celerio, the company has given 15-inch black finished alloy wheels, which gives a better look to its side profile.
Car interior and features:
Talking about the interior, it gets additional shoulder and leg room as well as luggage space. Along with several first-in-class safety features, special attention has been paid to the comfort of the passenger and the driver. In the top variant of the Celerio, a 7-inch infotainment system has been given which is operated through SmartPlay Studio. It can also be connected to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with smartphone navigation. It also gets a sports engine push start/stop button.
Other features include electrically adjustable and folding out side rear view mirrors (ORVM’s), twin slot AC vents and a new gear shift design along with updated upholstery. It comes with more than 12 safety features, it has dual airbags with hill hold assist, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). It also complies with the Indian safety requirements of frontal-offset, side crash and pedestrian safety.

In this car, the company has given K-Series Dualjet Dual VVT engine which generates power of 48 kW and torque of 89 Nm. Its CNG version generates 41.7 kW of power and 82.1 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki claims that the new engine reduces carbon emissions by about 19 percent and cools the EGR auto tensioner and integrated exhaust manifold. This engine is mated to manual transmission and auto gear shift (AGS).
