new Delhi. The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Bihar government to file an action taken report in the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual harassment case. Advocate Shoaib Alam, representing the petitioner, told Chief Justice N. Submitted before a bench headed by V. Ramana that the CBI had recommended action against some officers and it is not clear whether any action has been taken so far.
“I am only seeking action taken report. The government has not taken action,” he said.
The top court is considering a petition filed by Bihar-based journalist Nivedita Jha, challenging the complete ban imposed by the Patna High Court on media reporting of the Muzaffarpur shelter home case.
The bench also includes Justice Krishna Murari. The bench said that the investigation in the matter has been completed and some of the accused have been convicted. The counsel for the Bihar government said that the conviction has been done in one case and now the appeal is pending in the Delhi High Court. The lawyer also told the apex court that action has been taken against the officials concerned.
Additional Solicitor General Madhavi Divan, appearing for the CBI, submitted that the investigation in the matter has been completed and some of the officers were reverted to the parent cadre after the permission of the court. Dewan said that there is no such investigation which is pending and trial is going on in the main case.
“The CBI has also filed an application regarding repatriation of the officers to the parent cadre. An inquiry was also conducted by the CBI against one shelter home and then against others,” the bench said.
After hearing the arguments in the matter, the bench said, “The state is directed to file an action taken report. It is open to the CBI to seek assistance from the lawyers who appeared before the trial court. List after two weeks.” Create.”
Several girls were allegedly raped and sexually abused at a shelter home run by an NGO in Muzaffarpur. The issue was brought to the fore by a report by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The case was investigated by the CBI.
The top court had also directed the CBI to investigate the allegations of unnatural sexual harassment in the Muzaffarpur case.
