President Volodymyr Zelensky said it was a mistake not to allow Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Zelensky said that Ukraine would have proved beneficial for NATO.
According to the Fox News report, Zelensky said that it is difficult for us to talk about NATO because they do not want to accept us. Zelensky said that I think it is NATO’s mistake not to include Ukraine, if we were involved we would have made the organization much stronger.
NATO is the biggest reason behind Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly stated that it does not want Ukraine to join NATO. In fact, an organization named NATO was formed at the beginning of the Cold War to save Europe from the Soviet Union. Ukraine’s President Zelensky said he was ready to discuss Ukraine’s commitment not to take NATO membership in exchange for a ceasefire, withdrawal of Russian troops and security guarantees amid more than a month-long war with Russia. Huh.
Zelensky said he has told US President Joe Biden that he would like to see the United States engage in a security deal that would provide Ukraine with long-term support to eliminate the possibility of re-invading Russia in the future. On 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine.
Russia has been attacking Ukraine for more than a month. Many cities, including the capital Kyiv, have been completely destroyed. Thousands of people have died in the war and millions of Ukrainians have to leave the city.
