Robin Minz, resident of Gumla, Jharkhand, has created a distinct identity in the country and abroad through his talent. Robin is the first tribal cricket player from Jharkhand, who has proved his mettle at the world level with hard work and struggles from a small town. He has shown that even players coming from a small town can dream big and work hard to fulfill them.
He was selected in the Gujarat Titans team of IPL, where he was bought for Rs 3 crore 60 lakh. Robin, who reached Bokaro to play CK Nayudu Under-23 tournament, told Local 18 about his struggling journey. He said, ‘I am very happy to be selected in IPL. This is my dream which is being fulfilled after many years.
Regarding his interest in cricket, Robin said that he considered MS Dhoni as his idol and inspired by him, he started playing cricket and now his next goal is to make the Jharkhand team win in all the tournaments. Regarding the pride of being the first tribal player of Jharkhand, Robin said that he wants other talented players of tribal community to also come forward and represent in the game of cricket and achieve better success than him.
Father is ex-army man
Discussing his struggles, Robin said that he belongs to a normal family where his father Xavier Francis is an ex-army man. His mother Alice Minj is a housewife. Robin had to struggle with financial problems in the initial stages. He had to struggle a lot to buy the necessary cricket kit, but his family always supported him. Encouraged him and maintained his passion for the game of cricket. Robin has advised the young players who want to make a career in the cricket world that if they keep working hard with honesty, they will definitely achieve success one day.
