The number of districts in Andhra Pradesh will increase from 13 to 26 from today. The process of creating new districts in the state has been completed. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate these 13 new districts today. In the notification issued on Saturday night, it was said that all the new districts will come into existence from April 4 (Monday). The Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement that the Chief Minister would launch the District Portal and Handbook for the people on this important day.
New districts are being created on the basis of 24 Lok Sabha constituencies. Visakhapatnam also includes the Araku Lok Sabha constituency which will be divided into two districts. The names of the new districts are Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Kona Seema, Eluru, NTR, Bapatia, Palnadu, Nandyal, Sri Sathyasai, Annamayya, Sri Balaji. Earlier in 2012, 9 districts were created simultaneously in Chhattisgarh. It is also being seen as an increasing competition for new districts.
Instructions to streamline the office allotment process
According to the statement, “Chief Minister Jagan has directed the officers to streamline the office allotment process, stating that the officers will have to reach the district office on April 4. will felicitate all the volunteers.On April 8, the Chief Minister will also distribute ‘Vasathi Deewana’ to the beneficiaries across the state.
Reddy-led YSR Congress government has reshuffled IAS and IPS officers. Collectors and Superintendents of Police have been appointed in the newly created districts. In January, the state government had issued a draft notification to create 26 districts out of the existing 13 and suggestions and objections were sought.
Earlier in 1979 a new district was formed in Andhra Pradesh.
The last time a new district was created in Andhra Pradesh was in 1979. Andhra Pradesh was undivided at that time. Vizianagaram district was created in 1979. This decision of the state government’s cabinet came late on 25 January. After which Planning Secretary GSRKR Vijaykumar submitted the recommendations to Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma. Notifications have been issued to release in all the districts later.
