New Delhi. Indian Air Force has set another record. The Air Force has shown the world that if it wants to, it can do even the impossible tasks. The Indian Air Force has made this record in the case of longest flight of Chinook helicopter. IAF’s Chinook helicopter took off from Chandigarh and landed at Jorhat in Assam. This flight was non-stop. The entire route was 1910 kms and the pilots flew the Chinook for 30 hours continuously. No other country’s air force in the world has done this feat so far.
India has bought 15 heavy-lifting Chinook helicopters from the US. Apart from tanks and other heavy weapons, soldiers can also be transported through these helicopters. India had signed an agreement with the US in the year 2015 to buy this two-engine helicopter. In 2019, the first 4 Chinook helicopters reached Mundra port in Gujarat. These helicopters, which can carry out multi missions, are used by the Air Force of many countries. These helicopters are also involved in large numbers in the US Army. American soldiers had reached Abbottabad in Pakistan via Chinook helicopter and returned after killing al-Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden.

This helicopter was flown for the first time in the year 1962. Chinook helicopter can lift a weight of about 10 tonnes comfortably. The helicopter is manufactured by Boeing Company of America. It is capable of delivering troops and weapons to enemy areas even at high altitudes. Apart from India, the Chinook helicopter is also used by the Air Force of 18 more countries in the world. In the year 2018, the US had trained the pilots and engineers of the Indian Air Force on Chinook. Military equipment was transported from Chinook even during the ongoing tension with China in Ladakh. The special thing about this helicopter is that it works easily from the scorching heat of the desert to the temperature below zero.
