But their effort is to get the public out of the jam as soon as possible. The work of extending the Ashram flyover to the DND flyway is now in the final stage. Public works officials are in a fix since the target given by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to complete the work of this flyover on February 28 during his visit on February 2.
More than 95 percent of its work has been completed. Painting work has been started on this completed work. The work of the flyover from Ashram side towards Sarai Kale Khan has been completed. If the work of connecting the Ashram extension flyover and the already built Ashram flyover is completed, then this lane can be used for day time traffic.
Although Dinesh Kumar, former chief engineer of the Public Works Department, says that there is no provision to start any flyover without lighting, but in view of the problem of jam, diversion can be given on the flyover during the day. Traffic can be started on the occupied lane.
This experiment was also done two years ago on the flyover built in Shastri Park. With the completion of this flyover, lakhs of people traveling to and from South Delhi from other parts of Delhi along with Noida will get freedom from jam.
Vehicles coming from Noida and Ghaziabad to South Delhi have to face traffic jam to go from DND Loop to Ashram Square. People will get relief when it starts. On the other hand, after the construction of the Ashram extension flyover, one will not have to take a detour of four kilometers to cross the road from Kilokri.
After walking only 150 meters on Ring Road from Kilokri, drivers will be able to cross the road by taking a U-turn. Also he will be able to go towards Maharani Bagh or South Delhi. Similarly, going from Maharani Bagh to Sarai Kale Khan, Noida, ITO and Ghaziabad will not have to take a long detour.
Now after walking 150 meters on the Ring Road, the drivers will be able to take a U-turn and go towards the destination. At present, pedestrians used to use Maharani Bagh red light to cross the road on Ring Road. After its commissioning, the red light will be abolished.
