New Delhi. Taking major action against the banned Maoist organization in the anti-national conspiracy case, the National Investigation Agency today raided several places in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. NIA teams raided the premises of suspected persons at 11 locations in Ballia district of UP and one location in Kaimur district of Bihar. During the raid, many digital devices including mobile phones, SIM cards and memory cards and many incriminating documents including pamphlets of the banned Naxalite organization were seized.
It is noteworthy that on November 10 last year, NIA had taken over the investigation of the case related to the arrest of five people after the recovery of CPI (Maoist) weapons and incriminating documents in Ballia. On February 9 this year, NIA had also filed a chargesheet against four accused. According to the NIA investigation so far, the banned organization is trying to reactivate its presence in North India, including UP, Bihar, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. CPI (Maoist) leaders and over ground workers sympathetic to the cadre are making efforts to re-establish the organization in the region.
Earlier in November 2023, NIA had raided several places in Bihar in connection with the issue of inflammatory pamphlets and literature related to Naxalites. At that time the investigating agency had arrested Raja Lal Kharwar, Narad Yadav and another person. Secondly, today in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, security forces killed three Naxalites in an encounter. Many weapons including an LMG and an AK-47 rifle were also recovered from the slain Naxalites. Earlier on April 2, 13 Naxalites were killed by security forces in an 8-hour long encounter in the forest of Gangalur police station area of Bijapur.
