Kolkata. This is the second incident of deadly attack on the central team in West Bengal. According to the information, the team of National Investigation Agency i.e. NIA was attacked in East Medinipur district of West Bengal on Saturday morning. On the instructions of Calcutta High Court, the NIA team had reached Bhupatinagar in East Medinipur to investigate the bomb blast. During this time the NIA team was attacked. Two NIA officers are reported to have been injured in this attack. Earlier, the ED team was attacked in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal.
Information has been received that the NIA team caught a person for questioning in Bhupatinagar. While bringing him, the vehicles of the NIA team were attacked. The windows of NIA vehicles were broken. NIA says that the attack took place during interrogation. At the same time, East Medinipur district police say that NIA officers had reached Bhupatinagar even before getting police protection. Police have said that investigation will be done after receiving the written complaint. According to police sources, the NIA team had reached Bhupatinagar in East Medinipur early on Saturday.
Earlier the ED team was attacked in West Bengal. On January 5 this year, the ED team had gone to Sandeshkhali in Basirhat district of West Bengal. The ED team had raided the premises of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in Sandeshkhali. At the same time, a crowd of hundreds of people attacked the ED team. Many ED officers were seriously injured in this deadly attack. The injured ED officers were admitted to the hospital. After this, women in Sandeshkhali accused Shahjahan Sheikh and his henchmen of sexual harassment and violence. After which, on the instructions of Calcutta High Court, CBI arrested Shahjahan Sheikh. Shahjahan Sheikh was later also arrested by the ED.
