Bangalore. The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) will soon visit Shivamogga district of Karnataka in connection with the murder of Bajrang Dal worker Harsh Hindu. Sources gave this information on Thursday.
The state authorities have decided to shift 10 accused in the murder case to the Central Jail at Parappana Agrahara on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
According to sources, the Center has handed over the matter to the NIA, which has registered a case in this regard on Wednesday.
The incident on February 20 triggered large-scale violence in Shivamogga, forcing the authorities to impose a seven-day curfew.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje had written to Home Minister Amit Shah demanding an NIA probe into the incident.
The Karnataka government had invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against 10 accused.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had also said that once the local police completed their investigation, the matter would be handed over to the central agencies.
