Niranjan told that he has retired from UN as an International Civil Servant. Most of his postings have been in sensitive countries like Israel, Lebanon, Iraq etc. His childhood was spent in Srinagar and that is why he has been close to the mountains. He has trekked Mount Kailash, Har Ki Doon, Kedarnath, Amarnath, Gomukh, Tapovan.
Niranjan told that he has been adopting an active lifestyle. Two hours of yoga and exercise is his habit. 50 to 100 kilometer cycle ride with cycle group. They cover long distances like Dwarka to Gurugram etc. on foot. He always uses the stairs in metro etc.
Last year, Niranjan went to Sydney to be with his son. At the same time, some friends were planning to go to Everest Base Camp. Just from there I thought that this track should also be done. Intended in January. His guide gave him a schedule of three months that you have to adopt this lifestyle. But being busy, he could not do anything. But during this he continued his regular exercise of two hours. Did a brisk walk of 5 to 6 kms. He climbs the stairs of the eleventh floor of his society and comes down.
Mansarovar is dangerous, but Everest Base Camp is very difficult. The weather here makes it even more dangerous. Snowfall and snow storm are common here. The schedule of eating and drinking could not be made. Getting up and down in Snow Fall is not that difficult. But after snow fall and snow storm, when the weather is clear and sunny, then the journey becomes risky. The reason is that there snow accumulates on the stones and due to this the trek becomes slippery. The oxygen level drops drastically.
