Patna. RJD national vice-president Shivanand Tiwari has attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for making fun of Bihar and its people after Bihar and its people reported the tragedy of liquor in four districts of the state since Holi. He said, “During Nitish Kumar’s first and second term, he made every villager addicted to alcohol and suddenly in April 2016, the state implemented prohibition law. Lakhs of people went to jail for the sale and consumption of liquor. Here Till the Supreme Court criticized the prohibition and termed it as ‘short-sighted’.”
He said that Nitish Kumar is trying to forcibly de-addiction in Bihar. The entire government machinery in the state is looking for liquor. They are using drones, helicopters, motor boats, sniffer dogs etc. to implement it. I believe that this will not be the right way to implement prohibition in the state. Tiwari said that Nitish Kumar is not paying attention to the basic issues of the youth associated with this business.
Tiwari said, “The state is facing a huge problem of unemployment. They are unable to provide opportunities to the youth to earn money for their livelihood. In the absence of opportunities, many youths are involved in the liquor business. Nitish Kumar gives them Why are you not involved in sports and other creative activities?
People are dying due to spurious liquor in the state and administrative officials are denying it. They are declaring mass deaths due to the disease. Tiwari said that they are making fun of the people of Bihar where human life has no value in the state.
Since the day of Holi, there has been a political avalanche in Bihar after the mysterious death of 22 people in Bhagalpur, 12 in Banka, 3 in Madhepura and 5 in Siwan district. Even the ruling leaders are challenging the decisions of Chief Minister Kumar.
Gopal Mandal, JD(U) MLA from Gopalpur in Bhagalpur district, said, “The cops of the respective police stations in the state are involved in the liquor business. If the SHO of a police station starts an anti-liquor campaign in his jurisdiction, no one will.” Will dare to sell liquor. The SHOs know everything about the operation of liquor in their respective jurisdictions but are not taking any action against the mafia.”
