Following in the footsteps of other BJP-ruled states, the Manohar Lal government of Haryana has got the Assembly passed an anti-conversion bill. The Congress protested before introducing the bill on Tuesday. When the government did not listen to them, all the MLAs staged a walkout from the house.
Congress legislators created a ruckus before the anti-conversion bill was introduced in the assembly. The Congress members raised slogans against the government and demanded the cancellation of the bill. But the government bluntly said that it is not going to do this. After that all the MLAs under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda staged a walkout from the House.
Other states such as Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have also passed laws prohibiting conversion. This law was first introduced in Odisha. This law was implemented in Odisha in 1967.
