The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has not sent any team to India to investigate the case related to bitcoin. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sources have given this information. The senior CBI official said that the FBI has not made any such appeal to the CBI to investigate the matter in India.
In such a situation, the question of granting any kind of permission for the investigation on behalf of the competent authority in India does not arise. As the national central bureau for the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in India, the CBI closely coordinates with international law enforcement agencies, including the FBI.
Congress had expressed apprehension about FBI investigation
The Congress party on Friday asked whether the US FBI agency has come to investigate the alleged bitcoin scam in India. The Congress had last year accused the BJP government in Karnataka of trying to cover up the scam. Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the layers of the alleged bitcoin scam are finally unfolding.
Surjewala said that the Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) and Chief Minister (Basavaraj) Bommai should answer whether the US FBI has come to investigate India’s biggest bitcoin scam being concealed by the Karnataka BJP. If so, its details should be released.
