New Delhi. Do you also travel daily from Noida or Greater Noida to Delhi or Delhi to Greater Noida in connection with job or work by road? If yes, then you must have been facing long traffic jams on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway during peak hours for the past few months and your half or one hour journey would increase to 1 to 2 hours. For the past several months, the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which is known for plying vehicles, has been seen crawling on it in the morning and evening hours. This 25 km long expressway connecting Delhi from Greater Noida to Mahamaya Flyover and Dalit Prerna Sthal was once considered the pride of Noida, but now it has become a network of working people. In fact, in January 2021, the Noida Authority selected a company named Infra Construction Agency to complete the resurfacing work of this long-pending expressway and handed over its responsibility. The deadline to complete this project was earlier in June 2021 but then it was extended to October 2021 and then to April 2022. As the duration of the work increased, the cost also increased, but the Noida Authority, considered one of the richest authorities in the country, kept blindfolded on it and on the other hand people were troubled by the many kilometer long jam.
Although in the meantime, the authority did impose a fine of Rs 19 lakh on the responsible company, but the pace of work still could not increase. Due to the delay of the company, it has now been almost decided that it is difficult to complete the work of the expressway even by April 30. So the problems of the people will continue. However, in the authority meeting held on Friday, CEO Ritu Maheshwari expressed displeasure over this and also said that the authority can impose a fine of Rs 1 crore on the manufacturing company. But the question is, how did it take so long for the Noida Authority to take tough decisions? Why didn’t the authority sleep last year only?
More than 10 lakh vehicles move on the Noida Expressway every day. In such a situation, the question is whether the authority will take responsibility for the problems being faced by such a large number of people? Probably not, as the one thing that the system does not like is accountability. Construction of underpasses on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, at a distance of 10.3 and 19.4 km from the Mahamaya flyover, is hanging. Their cost has gone up but it has been approved. CEO Sahiba has strictly said that now the work should not stop and the construction should be completed on time. If the cost is increased or the work is stopped, then the departmental officers and contractors will be responsible. Action will be taken against them. Apart from this, the authority has also summoned the tenderer in this case. But the residents of NCR are asking the authority that why CEO Sahiba did not wake you up on time?
