Jaipur. Additional Chief Secretary Mines, Petroleum, Water and Ground Water Dr. Subodh Agrawal has informed that now all types of environmental clearances regarding mining of minor minerals will be issued at the level of State Label Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA). In the area of Major Minerals also, environmental clearance will be issued at the level of SEIAA for mining leases up to an area of 250 hectares. He said that in this regard, the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department of the Central Government has issued a notification and made necessary provisions.
ACS Dr. Agrawal informed that with the new provisions, there will be a big relief in solving the problem of gravel in the state. He said that gravel comes under Myron Minerals and now the environmental clearance for the gravel lease holders and future gravel mining leases will be obtained only from the State Label Environment Impact Assessment Authority.
ACS Dr. Subodh Agrawal said that in Minor Minerals, Granite, Gypsum, Marble, Masonry Stone, Quartz, Felspar, Soapstone, Dolomite, Silica Sand etc. come, while Major Minerals include Cement Grade Limestone, Iron Ore, Lead, Zinc, Copper. Minerals like manganese etc. come.
Dr. Agrawal informed that according to a rough estimate, more than 20 thousand mine holders of the state will get relief from these provisions, while environmental clearance for mining leases to be issued in future will also be issued from SEIAA. He said that this would save time as well as make the process easier.
