Eviction notice issued to Congress party for illegal occupation of government bungalow. It has been learned that this bungalow was allotted to the Congress Party, but the secretary of Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi is living on this bungalow. The Directorate of Estates (DOE) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has now made up its mind to take action against the Congress party. It has also been told that the outstanding of this property has become 3.08 crores which has not been paid yet. The last payment was made in August 2013.
Congress party has received eviction notice to vacate the bungalow (No. C-ll/109) located in Chanakyapuri, Delhi. According to the ministry document, this property in Delhi was given to the Congress party, but Vincent George, secretary of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, is living illegally in it. According to news agency ANI, this notice has been sent by DoE to the Congress party on March 25.
The letter reads, “You have taken unauthorized possession of the public premises. You should be evicted from the said premises… Even after cancellation of allotment from 26-06-2013 vide letter no.7/259/94- We are continuing to occupy public premises.”
The notice under sub-section (1) of section 3B of the Public Premises Act 1971 has issued a show cause notice within three days at 2:30 PM, to know why the order of eviction should not be given. It has also been said that if the reason is not satisfactory, eviction action will be taken within the stipulated time.

According to the DoI, the total outstanding of the property stands at Rs 3.08 crore. The bungalow is currently occupied by Sonia Gandhi’s personal secretary Vincent George. Last time the rent of this bungalow was paid in August 2013.
Significantly, in February, a notice was sent by the central government to the Congress party to pay the pending rent and dues of the Congress office, the official residence of Sonia Gandhi and the three properties occupied by her secretary.
