Indian Workers In Israel: The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for the last six months. Meanwhile, Israel needs workers in the construction sector. More than 6,000 Indian workers will arrive in Israel in April and May to meet the labor shortage. A statement issued by the Israeli government late on Wednesday night said that the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Construction and Housing have jointly decided that these workers will be brought by subsidized special aircraft.
Workers will reach Israel by ‘air shuttle’
The statement said that workers from India will be brought by ‘air shuttle’. Israel’s construction industry recruits workers for specific sectors where there is a severe shortage of Israeli workers. The largest group, about 80,000 workers, came from the Palestinian Authority-controlled West Bank and 17,000 workers came from the Gaza Strip but most of their work permits were canceled after the conflict began in October.
The process of workers leaving will continue
The statement said that this is “the largest number of foreign workers coming to Israel for the construction sector in a short period of time.” These workers from India are coming to Israel under the agreement between the governments of the two countries (G2G). . On Tuesday last week, 64 construction workers from India reached Israel under the agreement. The influx of workers will continue in the coming weeks and a total of 850 workers will arrive by mid-April.
Netanyahu had talked to PM Modi
More than 900 construction workers have come from India through ‘B2B’ route in the last few months. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had spoken to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone in December last year and requested India to send more construction sector workers. (Language)
