New Delhi: Travelling in Delhi Metro is going to be safer now. Delhi Metro is no less than a relief in the scorching heat and now there is no problem of safety. Yes, now the safety of passengers will be taken care of even more in Delhi Metro. Even if a passenger makes a mistake unknowingly, it will not cause any major harm to them. Actually, DMRC has taken a big decision in terms of the safety of passengers. Now accidents will not happen due to saree-handkerchief or any thin thing getting stuck in the doors of Delhi Metro. If any kind of clothes get stuck in the doors, then the gates of the metro will not close. And the metro will not run until the doors are closed.
Actually, DMRC has decided to install anti-drag system in Delhi Metro for security reasons. After installing the anti-drag system, if a saree or any thin thing (thickness up to 0.5 mm) gets stuck in the doors of the metro, then neither the gate of the metro will close nor the metro will move forward. According to the plan made by DMRC, two types of anti-drag systems will be installed in Delhi Metro.
First static anti drag system: With the installation of this system, any object as thin as .05 millimeters can be caught in the metro door. If an object of this thickness gets stuck, then the light on the door will start glowing and the gate will not close. The result will be that the metro train will not move forward. This will prevent any untoward incident from happening.
Second Dynamic Anti-Grag System: While the static anti-drag system will be activated when thin objects up to 0.5 mm get stuck, the dynamic anti-drag system will be activated when thin objects of 0.8 mm get stuck. If a sari, bag, handkerchief or any other thing gets stuck, this system will be activated and the door will not close. This will apply emergency brakes. In such a situation, the train will not move forward.
What the system is now: The current technology in the metro does not close if something as thin as 15 mm gets stuck in it. But after the introduction of these two technologies, the doors will not close even if the thinnest thing gets stuck and the metro will not move forward. This will curb accidents in the metro. Let us tell you that in December last year, a woman died when her sari got stuck in the train door at Indralok metro station in Delhi. Only after this, Delhi Metro decided to install this system.
What is the plan of DMRC: DMRC is going to start this as a pilot project. First of all, these systems will be activated on the Red and Blue lines. First, this system will be installed on the gates of 40 coaches of five metro trains. It is being told that DMRC will spend about Rs 3 crore on this project. This anti-drag system will be installed in 3 metro trains of Red Line and 2 metro trains of Blue Line. It is being told that this work will be completed in the next 15 months.
