New Delhi. During the examination in Sharda University, such a question was asked to the students regarding Hindutva, which not only angered the student organizations, but the UGC itself has also called the university for an answer. It is noteworthy that in the Political Science Honors first year exam at Sharda University, students were asked a controversial question on equality between fascism and Hindu right wing (Hinduism). Now the UGC has swung into action regarding this question. The UGC has sought a report from the university on asking such a question. Along with this, the university has been asked what steps the university is taking so that such unfair questions do not come in the examinations in future.
According to Sharda University, after this question came to their knowledge, the university has issued a show-cause notice to Professor Waqas Farooq, who prepared the question paper. Also, a committee has been formed to probe the entire matter.
The same UGC has sent a letter to Sharda University on this entire matter. In this, the UGC told the university that asking such questions to students is not only wrong but also against the spirit and ethos of our country. Taking a strong stand, the UGC told the university that our education system and our country is known for uniformity and inclusiveness in which such questions should not arise.
However, the university says that they have already started an investigation into the matter. Despite the show cause notice and suspension of the professor, the university has formed a three member committee to investigate the bias in the question. The university says that this special committee has also started its investigation and has found the question asked in the Political Science exam objectionable. Also, students will not be evaluated on the basis of this question. The university has issued necessary instructions to the concerned teachers in this regard.
Before the UGC, the student organizations had lodged their complaint with the university on this entire matter. Students associated with the student union say that this question is full of mischief and the question was asked due to bias. According to the student union, activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad lodged an official protest with the university in protest against asking equality between Nazism, Fascism and Hindutva in political science examination at Sharda University.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has demanded from the university that the teacher who prepared the questions should be suspended permanently. Re-conduct the entire exam. Taking action on the basis of the complaint and demand of the students, the university first issued a show cause notice to the professor who made the question, then after that he has also been suspended.
The university says that further action in this matter will now be taken on the basis of the report of the 3-member inquiry committee. This committee is probing this entire matter and this investigation is yet to be completed. After the completion of the investigation, this committee will submit its report to the university, which can also be shared with the students.
