New Delhi. Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K. Kavita on Wednesday approached the Delhi High Court for bail in the corruption case registered by the CBI in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma will hear his plea against the order of the subordinate court as well as the bail plea on Thursday. In this order, the court had given permission to CBI to interrogate him.
Kavita is in judicial custody in both the cases registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI in connection with the alleged scam. His bail plea in the ED case is pending in the High Court. On May 6, the subordinate court had rejected Kavita’s bail plea in the corruption case as well as in the case in which the ED is investigating a money laundering case.

Court will hear on May 24…
The “scam” pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s liquor policy for 2021-22. This policy was later canceled. On March 15, ED had arrested Kavita (46) from her residence in Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. On May 10, the High Court gave time to the ED to file its reply on Kavita’s plea for bail in the money laundering case and listed the matter for May 24 for further hearing.
It has nothing to do with me…
The BRS leader, in his bail plea filed in the High Court, has said that he has “nothing to do” with the excise policy and that a criminal conspiracy has been hatched against him “by the ruling party at the Center with the active connivance of the Enforcement Directorate”. In the Delhi liquor scam, Kavitha is accused of playing the role of a middleman between the businessmen of South India and the Delhi government. A profit of Rs 100 crore was passed on to liquor traders. In return, Rs 45 crore was given to Delhi government for Goa elections 2022.
