Tokyo, Aug 5 (IANS)| Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya settled for a silver medal after going down 4-7 to Zayur Ugayev of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in the men’s freestyle 57kg final at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics here. Ravi had proved his mettle by making a stellar start in Tokyo. Despite being trailing in the semi-finals, he defeated NurIslam Sanayev of Kazakhstan to secure a medal for India by entering the final.

Ugayev took two points in the first period of the final match. But Ravi immediately bounced back and scored two points. However, then Ugayev took two points to take a 4-2 lead. After this, Ugayev also took a point in the second period. Then Ugayev took two more points to make the score 7-2. However, Ravi once again made a comeback and narrowed the gap by collecting two points. But his efforts were not enough to win the match and he had to be content with the silver medal with this defeat.

As soon as Ravi won the silver medal, Prime Minister Modi wished him. Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has also announced a cash reward of Rs.4 crore for Ravi Kumar. Apart from this, it has also been announced to give them class one government job and HSVP plot at 50 percent cost. An indoor wrestling stadium with modern facilities will also be built in Ravi’s village Nahari.
