Srinagar . A jawan and two civilians were injured in an ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces in Pandoshan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Police said both the injured civilians have been admitted to a hospital in Srinagar for treatment. A jawan has also been injured. He has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
During the initial cordon and search operation, the terrorists opened fire on civilians and tried to escape, injuring two civilians, police said. Both the injured were taken to the hospital. The condition of one of them is said to be critical.
A joint team of police and security forces had cordoned off the area, and exchange of fire broke out between militants and security forces on Monday after launching a search operation based on specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces reached the spot where the terrorists were hiding, they came under fire, triggering an encounter.
