New Delhi. Ordering food from online food delivery platform Zomato has now become more expensive. The company has increased the fees of its platform for the second time within a year. Now the customer will have to pay 25 percent more platform fee on every order. Apart from this, the company has also stopped its service between the two cities. This service was being run under the name Intercity Legend.
In the statement issued by Zomato, it has been said that now the customer will have to pay 25 percent (up to Rs 5) more platform fee on every order. Apart from this, the company has also stopped the service of intercity food delivery. Zomato is also going to release its quarterly results within the next week. Earlier in August 2023 also, Zomato had increased the platform fee by Rs 2. Earlier in January, the fees were increased from Re 1 to Rs 4, while on December 31, the platform fee was increased by Rs 9.

90 crore orders every year
Zomato delivers around 85 to 90 crore orders every year. Obviously, even by increasing the fees by Re 1, the company’s earnings will increase by Rs 90 crore. This will also affect the EBITDA of the company and its EBITDA will become stronger by 5 percent. However, this increase in prices has been implemented only for a few cities.
Intercity delivery also stopped
Zomato has also stopped intercity service. Under this service, customers living in other cities can also order food from top restaurants located in any other city. For this there is a legend tab on the platform. The company has currently stopped this service. Zomato also offers a subscription plan to its customers, in which there is no delivery charge. However, platform fees have to be paid in this also.
Company’s business is getting stronger
The business of Jomao and its sister company Blinkit is continuously going from strength to strength. The company had said that business would grow by 30 percent on an annual basis in the December quarter. During this period, the total revenue of the company was Rs 2,025 crore, while the revenue of Blinkit doubled to Rs 644 crore. While Zomato had suffered a loss of Rs 347 crore in the December quarter a year ago, this time the company has made a net profit of Rs 138 crore in the December quarter.
