Kolkata. The Trinamool Congress has hit back at the BJP’s statement, in which the BJP has claimed that West Bengal’s dues should not be released under the PM Awas Yojana, as the state government is running the scheme under a different name. On May 12, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking the central government to immediately release state dues for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) and PM Awas Yojana.
Soon after, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari, also wrote to the Prime Minister, claiming that 32 lakh houses had been constructed in West Bengal under the PM Awas Yojana, which the state government had adopted under a different name- Bangla Awas Yojana. Running the plan.
He requested that the central funds should not be released under this housing scheme unless the state government runs the scheme in the name of PM Awas Yojana.
However, the officer’s claims may prove to be frivolous, as the Trinamool Congress leadership has decided to highlight instances with photographic documents where states like Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are also running the scheme under different names but with dues. are not deprived of.
West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said, “Apart from Uttar Pradesh, many BJP-ruled states are running PM Awas Yojana under different names and hence, this cannot be an excuse to withdraw the dues of the West Bengal government.”
He told that in Uttar Pradesh, this scheme is being run under the name of UP Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and still they are getting their dues, whereas in Delhi it is called New Delhi Awas Yojana.
“However, the BJP leaders have not raised any question on the issue,” he said.
BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh told -AnyTV News that it is not a question of PM Awas Yojana alone.
Ghosh said that “West Bengal is running every central scheme under different names. This is a deliberate attempt to reduce the contribution of the central government in the development of the state, which no other state government is doing and it is just Not the name change, which the PPP leader has highlighted in his letter to the Prime Minister, he has also highlighted that Trinamool Congress leaders at various levels are misusing central funds to fill their pockets.”
