Information about nuclear weapons given to bin Laden
Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmud is also known for his strange claims on science. He once said that Pakistan can generate electricity with the help of jinn. Major General Sharif was appointed to head the ISPR on the recommendation of General Asim Munir. According to the United Nations (UN), Bashiruddin had met bin Laden. He provided bin Laden with information on the infrastructure needed for a nuclear weapons program and the effects of nuclear weapons. Bashiruddin, a scientist by profession, is also accused of funding a terrorist organization, Umma Tameer-e-Nau.
Studying in Germany and the UK
Bashiruddin, who studied at universities in Germany and the United Kingdom, was awarded the country’s third-highest civilian honour, the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Later, however, Bashiruddin became his staunch critic, and supported the jihadists in Afghanistan. Sharif was briefly questioned about his father’s links to jihadi activities when he was appointed. The source said the probe, however, had cleared Sharif of suspicion. It is not yet clear whether he was aware of his father’s fund-raising activities.
amazing books
After retiring from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Bashiruddin wrote several books on the theme of seeking to reconcile religion with science. He wrote one such book which warned about doomsday technology and life after death. It was written in it that the last hour is not far away. According to the book, the world will end in the next hundred years and in such a situation life has no value.
