Japan: 3700 victims of nuclear accident will get 100 crores
The Japanese Supreme Court has ordered about one hundred crore rupees (1.4 billion yen) as compensation to the 3,700 victims of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident in 2011.
Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), which operates the Fukushima Daiichi power plant, will pay around 2.5 million rupees (3.80 million yen) to each of the victims, Japan’s national broadcaster NHK reported. In March 2011, the Fukushima Daiichi plant was affected by a tsunami caused by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake off the northeast coast of Japan.
