Lahore. Pakistan Cricket Board is often in the news. There was a lot of discussion going on since last few months. With the change of chairman of the board, a lot of changes have been seen in the Pakistan cricket team. Only last month, Shaheen Shah Afridi was removed from the T20 captaincy and Babar Azam was again given the command of the team. Now former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood can be made the assistant coach of the team in all formats.
The ICC T20 World Cup is to be hosted by America and West Indies Cricket Board this year. Before this, the team has to play in the T20 series for which the new captain has been announced. Mahmood was made the interim head coach for the home series against New Zealand starting from April 18. The board has not yet announced long-term contracts with foreign coaches Jason Gillespie of Australia and Gary Kirsten of South Africa.

Gillespie will be the head coach in Test cricket while Kirsten will take over the responsibility in the white ball format. Mahmood can be made assistant coach in all three formats. Mahmood, who was the bowling coach of Pakistan, is settled in Britain and is a recognized coach of England and Wales Cricket Board. Mohammad Yusuf will be the batting coach and Saeed Ajmal will be the spin bowling coach in the series against New Zealand.
Pakistan cricket team had a shameful defeat in the ICC ODI World Cup played in India. After being eliminated from the first round, team captain Babar Azam had left his post. He had resigned from the captaincy of all three formats. Everyone was informed about this on social media.
