Lahore. Before the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a major change in the captaincy. The team’s star batsman and former captain Babar Azam was again given the command of the team. Now the cricket board is eyeing the coach who will make the Indian team world champion. According to the information, PCB has decided to give the responsibility of limited overs coach to the South African legend.
PCB on Saturday officially released the advertisement for the posts of red ball and white ball coaches. Interested candidates (foreign and local) can apply till 15th April. Apart from having minimum level two coaching eligibility, they should have at least five years of experience in coaching domestic, international or franchise teams. It said that candidates with higher level of coaching eligibility will be given preference in appointments.
However, a PCB source told PTI that applications have been invited in the advertisement but the board has held talks with Kirsten and Gillespie. The Board is awaiting his application so that he can be appointed on a long-term basis. According to the source, Kirsten, who has coached the Indian team, has been selected for the white ball format (limited overs team). Gillespie is expected to be made the head coach of the red ball (Test) team.
Made India world champion
In the year 2011, the Indian team won the ICC ODI World Cup title under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. At this time, former South African batsman Gary Kirsten was taking the responsibility of coach of Team India. Pakistan hopes to repeat the success like India and for this it is betting on Kirsten.
