Amritsar. During the Jashn-e-Bahar festival near the Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan’s Narwal district, drums, drums and dance shows will be organized along with the echo of Sufi singer Arif Lohar’s famous song ‘Jugni’. This protest will be done by the Government of Pakistan from March 23 to 27, but it may hurt Sikh religious sentiments.
The scheduled festival is believed to be a desperate attempt by the Pakistan government to ‘commercialise’ the Kartarpur Corridor and increase its income. Earlier, it had allowed one cycle and one motorcycle rally to culminate on the Kartarpur corridor.
The Kartarpur Corridor was constructed by India and Pakistan for Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, about 4.5 km from the India-Pakistan International Border, through the Integrated Check Post at Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district of Pakistan. went. Indian pilgrims return on the same day after darshan.
This Gurdwara is one of the holiest places for Sikhs and now the cultural and entertainment activities organized by Pakistan can invite the wrath of the Sikhs.
Project Management CEO Muhammad Latif told the media that Jashn-e-Bahar will be held from March 23 to 27 at Kartarpur Corridor, Narwal.
Events during the scheduled celebrations include Pakistan Day Celebrations, Sufi Music Evenings, Qawwali Nights, Cultural Days and Family Gatherings. He informed that Sufi singer Arif Lohar will be the main attraction of the show among other actors.
The festival is being organized near Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib. “We have taken care and ensured that there is no violation of the Rihat Maryada (Religious Code of Conduct),” Latif said.
Sources said the Pakistan government spends close to Rs 5 to 6 crore per month on the maintenance of the Kartapur Corridor and employs over 1,000 employees. They have the capacity to cater to the needs of 5,000 pilgrims per day, but after the outbreak of COVID-19, the number of pilgrims visiting Kartapur Sahib has come down to around 200 to 300 per day.
